These are not right around the corner, but I
just want to plant a seed AND capture the right
price whilst I still can. To begin, 5 Dimes has
posted Manny Pacquaio-Juan Manuel Marquez for
May 8. Manny Pac +110, Marquez-130, to take
place here in Vegas somewhere. This is a fight
fans fight, to me anyway. Tough call right now.
I have seen Marquez live 6 times and I do respect his focus and work ethic. No bad habits
outside the ring and is very solid. Manny is a
banger and truly dynamic. Just don't know right
now. The next week we have the Jones-600, Tarver
+450 rematch, also here in town. I took Tarver
+475, and the line dropped a quarter. I don't
know that Jones hasn't gottin old overnite, as
they say, and is past his peak. I feel this may
be a case of who really wants it more, and I take Tarver. Not to discount the amazing skills
of Jones, but the king may get dethroned this
go round. Backing up to April 10, I took Zab
Judah-150 over C. Spinks. If Zab comes to fight
and doesn't showboat too much, he is very hard
to beat. Hope we can generate some discourse
here to our mutual benefit.

I like the Pac-man, but barely. He is just a buzz saw right now, but without Roach, i wouldnt bet on that one.. too close
I def like Jones, as he will have more time to get his weight down.. Tarver isnt that good.
I also really like Zab, and IMO, Spinks fought a scared fight against Mayorga, and he didnt really impress me. If he wins this one then i will be impressed. Judah is just as fast and hits alot harder.

I doubt Tarver will defeat Jones. I think Jones is out to punish Tarver this time around.

is jones fighting at 175 again?....if he is,he`s not very smart....he looked like a biafran refugee last time out at 175....and fought, very possibly, the worst fight of his life.....

i don`t think tarver`s anything special.....but,roy just ain`t the same at 175 anymore.......

i took marquez at -110....i can`t help myself...i`m a huge fan...i just love the guy`s style....but,i`m admittedly biased....i just love watching the guy fight....

i think that either pacquaio overwhelms him(which would surprise me a bit),or,marquez, who is a beautiful counter-puncher,will chop the wild pacman down

...marquez is a natural feather.....pacquaio has come up several divisions(or half-divisions).....

....you know pacquaio will have to come forward..and if i were manny,i`d have to try and get marquez early..few guys come right at marquez...understandably....he`s a fantastic counter-puncher...but,marquez tends to break guys down as the rounds go by...he`s not really a one punch k.o. guy...manny might be able to discourage him....basically set the tone of the fight early...through pressure...much like the barrera bout...

marquez` loss was to another lefty, freddy "lil` hagler" norwood...no shame there...and norwood fought a strange awkward fight....many thought marquez won anyway....but,he had real problems with norwood...

it`s possible that lefty`s give jmm problems....

the big question is.....was barrera on the downside of of a great career?....or did manny beat an all-time great in his prime?

after watching morales the other night, and thinking back to the brutal fights morales and barrera have been through(and not just with each other),i think that they both may be showing some wear and tear...

marquez hasn`t seen those kinds of fights in his career...he`s a fairly"fresh" guy at this point in his career..

..the more i see the brothers marquez, the more impressed i become...but pacquaio is lefty, hot and has very heavy hands and a higher work rate than marquez.......

as i said,i`m biased.....and, i had the jirov/mesi hedge along with nate "the comedian" campbell...
don`t go by me here...

actually,might be fade time...

If anybody was to fade anybody you guys should be fading me. Hardcore, I would tend to lean your way on Judah vs Spinks but one thing you failed to mention is that Spinks has a very good defense and Zab has a very questionable one. Although its been getting better since the Tszyu fight. Spinks lost that Mayorga fight but still - this fight is too close to call for me. I think a good play would be on the over if the books provide it. Zab probably cant knock Spinks out and Spinks just dosent hit hard enough to knock a good fighter out. He could land enough shots on Zab though.

Marquez vs Manny is like the fight of the decade. These guys are two underrated fighters - but dont kid yourself, they are both in the top 10 P4P. This is an AWESOME fight.

Fightnews is reporting this weekend that Manny is now back with Roach.

You bring up an interesting question Spinch. I dont think that Barrera is necessarily on the downslope of his career. Maybe he is, but I dont think that he had a good training camp for that fight and is capable of fighting better than he did against Manny that night. We've seen him get hit like that against Morales and not fold. I think he can fight a better fight against Manny. Im not saying he would beat him in a rematch but I think he's capable of doing better.

But I'm not touching this one either. Too tough.

Theres not any fights coming up on the horizon that I really have a good feel about. I'll be interested to take a look at that Gatti vs Dorin line when it comes out. I think Gatti will take it to him.

I think Tarver had his chance to take Jones and proved he isnt a champ. But I dont want to lay
-600 on it. I'm sure it will come down before the fight though.

An observation regarding comments made by Pac-
man at a presser. He stated he had to win if he was going to face E. Morales on July 31. Between
Pac-man and HBO, it seems they feel AFTER Manny
beats Marquez, another big mega-fight with Erik
is money inthe bank. Ah yes, lets count our
chickens before they hatch. I feel the Pacquaio
team is looking past Marquez. Just my opinion.
Pacquaio is more exciting than Marquez. The suits love these media darlings. Big bucks. Lets
face it, Juan Marquez is not a big draw, just a
very good fighter. Maybe HBO's grand scheme will
come to pass; we shall see.
